Duke, India, and Public Policy


The Sanford School of Public Policy Office of Career Services, in conjunction with Professor Anirudh Krishna and other Sanford professors, provides opportunities for students to do unpaid summer internships in India with NGOs and socially focused businesses. Recent areas of focus have included India’s employment trends, financial services for underserved urban populations, urban infrastructure, rural development, health of marginalized communities and economic development.

Sanford's commitment to research in India involves the work of faculty such as Professor Anirudh Krishna, who studies poverty, social capital and development, and Assistant Professor Manoj Mohanan, who is involved in health care initiatives and is a partner in COHESIVE-India (Collaboration for Health System Improvement and Impact Evaluation in India).
